Welcome to our combined Year 1/2 page.
We have two mixed classes in Year 1/2 and a mixed EYFS/Year 1 class.
The teams are made up as follows:
EYFS / Year 1 - Mrs Green, Mrs Cooper and Miss Jennings
Year 1/2 - Mrs Bramma, Mrs Bird, Mrs Coates and Mrs Watson (alternative Thursday mornings)
Year 1/2 - Mrs Hesketh, Mrs Justice and Mrs Coates.
There will be times that Mrs Bird and Mrs Justice work in the opposite classes.
We all operate an open door policy and if you need to see your child's class teacher, the best time to catch them is after school on the days listed in our half termly newsletter. If those times aren't suitable for you, please call the Office to make an alternative appointment.
If you missed our information evening you can find the presentation attached at the bottom of our page.
Mrs Bramma's and Mrs Hesketh's clases will do PE on a Monday and a Wednesday.
Mrs Green and Mrs Cooper's class will do PE on a Tuesday and Friday.
To help please can the children have their PE kits in school all week, as there are times when we need to change.
This term our topic is 'Time Travel'.
How can you help your child at home?
To help your child, please could you read with them daily and record this in their reading record - even if it is their own book that you have read. Asking them lots of questions about their stories will really help develop their comprehension skills. Also it is useful to talk about the meanings of words in the stories and ask your child to try to explain what a word means. Practicing number bonds and times tables will also really help your child. Homework will come home every Friday and is due back the following Wednesday. The children will be tested on their Spellings every fortnight, in line with the new homework policy. The children will always bring home Maths homework, linked to what we have been doing in class as well as a times table grid. The children will then bring either a Comprehension book or a SPAG book home with the expectation that the pages listed in the Maths homeowork book are completed. If you'd like any advice about how to help your child at home further, please ask.
Below are links to three of our favourite Maths websites. Sumdog and Times Table Rockstars - the children all have passwords and logins inside their reading records, and Hit The Button - a firm favourite in our Maths lessons.
Please keep checking our class page to find copies of our timetable, photographs of our learning and links to useful websites to aid your child's learning.
