In Class support
We operate an open door policy and urge any parents to contact us regarding any worries, concerns or niggles they may have; we will always doour best to solve these quickly and sensitively. If you would like speak to us face to face, the best times to do so are at the end of the day Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
We understand this is not always a convenient time; therefore you are always welcome to ring and arrange an appointment to see us, via the Office Team or alternatively, email the office using the contact form found on the website (https://www.easingwoldprimaryschool.co.uk/contact).
Below is a link to our most up-to-date timetable. Year 5 is an ideal time for children to gain as much independece as possible and therefore this timetable can help children to organise themselves and their resources for school. Please support us by encouraging independence and good organisational skills.
We expect the children in Year 5 to read at least five times a week and for an adult at home to sign this off. The children have been provided with home/school diaries and we would like to see every child’s diary complete with a recording of the books they are reading and which page number they are up to. Most should be able to do this themselves, however it is still highly beneficial to hear your child read. Please initial your child’s reading. There will be space for you in the diary to write a comment if you so wish.
Please support your child by ensuring they complete their homework. We also expect them to regularly practise their weekly spellings and current Maths target. Your child will be set homework on a Friday which is to be returned the following Wednesday. They will be set either a reading comprehension or SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) task and a maths task along with time table practice. Please encourage your child to complete this to a high standard, with particular care to presentation and quality of sentences, and as soon as possible, getting them into the habit of handing it in on time.
PE lessons are on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Tuesdays will be outdoor games and Thursdays will be indoor.
We expect children to be wearing the approved school uniform and P.E kit. We kindly remind parents that children who have long hair must have this tied back for PE and jewellry should not be worn for safety purposes. During the winder months, please can you ensure that the children are wearing something warm for our outdoor PE days.
We look forward to seeing how much the children progress this year. Watch this space!
